OLD JEWELRY presents one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces by the London-based artist LEO COSTELLOE,  as well as his editioned spoons and open edition brooches and rings, exclusive to OLD JEWELRY.

Leo’s first Showcase collection at Old Jewelry uses familiar icons to create distinctive and gestural jewelry adornments. The ribbon is the leitmotif of Leo’s collection. A ribbon, when assigned to jewelry, can often read as too sweet or sentimental, but Costelloe’s ribbon feels more subversive.  A ribbon in mid-flop is not just a pretty thing, but also a mildly frantic, desperate connector. Costelloe’s haptic combinations feel frenzied and personal. His jewelry objects are culturally feminine, spiritually alien, and decidedly Leo. Rigid materials, rendered softly, like silk, carry an inherent lightness, riding quietly above something heavier and darker. Costelloe’s symbols are made to speak differently, like familiar words  in an unfamiliar voice.

Costelloe's unique jewelry works are crafted using a variety of materials and methods (forging, weaving, sewing, etc) and are hand crafted by Leo in his London studio.

Select works from the Leo Costelloe SHOWCASE are currently on view at OLD JEWELRY STORE.
